The Kalmanovitz Initiative Invites You to an Upcoming Post-Election Conversation

Posted in Announcements

In the wake of the 2024 presidential election, the Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor invites you to join or deepen your engagement with our work for economic and racial justice and the common good. Together, we are centering the dignity of work and demanding respect for rights of ALL workers, following in the Catholic and Jesuit traditions.

Public support for unions is at a 50-year high and the past few years have seen workers organize in new and innovative ways, showing what people can do when they come together. This work remains so important, now more than ever.

How can I get involved?

  • Join our post-election dialogue on what happened in the election, why and what it means for worker rights going forward.  Email kilwp@georgetown.edu for more information on this on-campus dialogue. Date Pending
  • Be part of Labor Spring, the nationwide effort on campuses and in communities to lift up workers’ rights and stand up for fair treatment on the job.  Email kilwp@georgetown.edu to learn more about how to join the Organizing Committee, or to sponsor an event this Spring in your area
  • Georgetown students can get involved in worker justice issues through our organizing internship
  • Join the nationwide movement,  Bargaining for the Common Good, which brings together unions and community organizations to make demands beyond traditional collective bargaining issues, such as on climate justice or fair housing
  • Donate to our ongoing work here.

Workers and the worker movement are central to the greater movement for justice for all.  We thank you for your support and if you are new, we invite you to plug in further.
