Join us for a special Black History Month and Labor Spring event featuring April Verrett, the first Black woman president of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
President Verrett will reflect on the legacy of A. Philip Randolph and the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, highlighting their transformative role in the Black freedom struggle, the labor movement, and the ongoing fight for racial and economic justice. this event will reflect on labor history while considering the current moment and the future of workers’ rights
The event will be moderated by James Benton, director of the Kalmanovitz Initiative’s Race and Economic Empowerment Project, followed by an audience Q&A.
