KI Staff and Students Hit the Road for #Peoples250

This Summer, several Kalmanovitz students and staff participated in #Peoples250. #Peoples250 is a video project launched by educational associations, historical societies, and labor unions in collaboration with LAWCHA and to share stories about labor, working-class life, and the histories that deserve more attention in light of the 250th anniversary of the United States of America.

#Peoples250 uses social media to shine a spotlight on  people-centered history shaped by real experiences, communities, and working-class voices. From college students organizing their workplaces to Civil Rights history, #Peoples250 is telling stories that must be told.

In the past few months, KI Research Director Patrick Dixon headed to Philadelphia and Ohio, while our Communications Director Alexis Harper popped up in Seattle and, of course, Washington, DC to highlight lesser known labor history. At Georgetown University, students like Greg Afinogenev and Elijah documented their wins and how they stood up for themselves and their coworkers through the graduate student union and in their own off campus jobs.
