“What Does it Profit?” Wins Multiple W3 Awards

The Kalmanovitz Initiative is excited to announce “What Does it Profit?” – the award winning podcast from the Solidarity Economy Workshop – has won two Gold W3 awards in Individual Episodes & Specials-Cause Awareness and Individual Episodes & Specials-Documentary for it’s season 5 Episode “Locked Doors”
Season 5 of “What Does it Profit,” host Dr. Dawn Carpenter shines a spotlight on the critical issue of worker safety. This season featured safety advocates, business experts, and other professionals in the field of worker safety. However, in this season, the most important guides were the workers themselves.
“Locked Doors” took listeners back Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911. This was one of the deadliest industrial tragedies in U.S. history, claiming 147 lives due to locked exit doors and inadequate safety measures. This tragedy sparked significant reforms, including the establishment of OSHA and mandatory safety regulations.
